Latest Update - February 2011

It is BUISINESS AS USUAL for CruisAbility!

Don't worry Keppel Bay and Yeppoon survived both the floods and cyclone YASI.  The water in the bay is currently a little brown from the flood runnoff of the Fitzroy River, but it is clearing up rapidly.

Our hearts go out to all those affected by the floods and cyclone.

The Cart Before the Horse! - At Cruisability we like to work with our clients on their boat buying dreams and we have just returned from a boat buying trip in the SE Queensland area working with clients Garry and Nat.

They have owned a smaller yacht previously but still class their sailing skills at the "novice" level. After initially booking a 6 day Cruise and Learn trip for early next year, they decided they just couldn't wait to get the "right boat"! It is a buyers market on new and second hand yachts at the moment. So we have spent time with them inspecting options and working through their sailing and safety priorities together with accommodation and comfort requirements.  They are now in the process of purchasing a brand new Hanse 445 which should be here in time to be used as a display boat at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in 2011.  The learning began from the start of the dream, the training will be starting on board their own boat as soon as it splashes down!

It might be the proverbial "Cart Before the Horse" but Garry and Nat will have CruisAbility there to help guide them through and make sure they learn all the appropriate cruising and sailing skills!

Unseasonal Weather - Last winter was a busy season of sailing despite the unseasonal weather, with "ManaKai" being used for all our Introductory, Compentent Crew and Inshore Skipper Courses. She is well suited to beginner sailors and those wishing to improve their sailing skills. Looking forward to more adventures with new and repeat clients in the coming months.

After a great adventure delivering her from Launceston to Yeppoon in March 2010 "Spirit Silver Edition" the Andy Dovell designed 44ft Deck Saloon has now undergone a major interior transformation and addition of canvas shade systems to suit cruising in tropical waters.

Trick or Treat! - CruisAbility regulars, Andrew, Heath and Peter came for a quick coastal cruise on Spirit up to Middle Percy Island and back in late October and were seen harrassing the other cruising yachts int he anchorage on Halloween night!  Great fun was had by all - thanks guys for sharing another great CruisAbility adventure - even if you did make little children cry in your goulish costumes yelling Trick or Treat!
